10U and 12U Spring Series Program Description

In order to offer more playing opportunities for more children, Region 98 will be holding a Spring Series program for 10U and 12U players.

The Spring Series will be structured to accommodate children playing softball and baseball by having only one-to-two practices a week and games on Sunday afternoons.

To register, please fill out the form below and the Region will follow up with a payment collection day. Registration is open on a first come, first served basis. There will be four teams in each division and divisions are expected to fill up quickly. Registration is $100 per player.

If you are registering multiple children, please submit a separate form for each child.

Spring Series Highlights:

  • There will be a maximum of four teams formed for each boys and girls teams in each division. They will essentially play each other three times before the playoffs.
  • If there is a surplus of registered players, priority will be given to children whose parent is coaching or refereeing in this program.
  • Current older 8U players are welcome to sign up for the 10U division but will be registered only after all 10U players have been placed onto teams.
  • Practices will be at Live Oak Park at the coach's discretion.
  • Games will be at Kare Park (located at the intersection of Live Oak and the 605 FWY).
  • Games will be from March 17 – May 19 with no games played on Easter Sunday nor Mother’s Day.
  • Players will receive an average of nine games, a uniform and access to Live Oak Park and Kare Park.

1. Coaches and team referees: become familiar with how to fill out game cards

Game Card Sample: (front | back)

2. Coaches: become familiar with the scoring system

For Spring Series, we will be using a 10-point system. For each game, a team can earn a maximum of 10 points:

   6 points for a win
   3 point for a tie
   0 points for a loss
   1 point for a shutout
1 point for each goal scored (up to a maximum of 3 goals)

Forfeits will be scored as 1-0 (8 points).

3. Plan on using friendly matches to practice your entire team, including coaches, your team referees, and your parents.

For friendly (practice) matches, points are not recorded. The first two games are friendlies for divisions BU10, GU12, and BU12. The first three games are friendlies for the GU10 division. Friendly matches are denoted on the schedule.

Game cards are required to be completely and accurately filled out for all games, including friendly matches. Online match reports are also required for each game--including friendlies.

1. Prepare your game card

Pro Tip: To save yourself time, download our PDF form which allows you to enter in your team info, player roster, and game info. Save and print them out (card stock preferred).

2. List your team referees on the Match & Referee Schedule (10U | 12U)

Listing your referees is important as it helps us insure that all of our games are covered. Please sign up your referees as early in the week as possible. If you need assistance covering your team's referee assignments, please enter Help! for your assignment(s) to make it easier for our referee volunteer pool to find which matches need referees.

The Home team provides two referees, and the Away team provides one referee for the following game. (If your game is the last game of the day (LGOTD), then your teams will cover the first game of the day (FGOTD).

Before the Start of the Game

1. insure your game card is properly filled out and given to the referee team.

After the Game

2. Insure your substitutions are properly marked! Typically the assistant referee working your touch line will assist you with this, but ultimately, it is the coach's responsibility to insure the accuracy of your subs to insure that all children are playing 3/4 of each game.

a. Insure the game card is completely and accurately filled out, then sign the game card.

b. Scan your game card (front and back sides using your phone's camera or a scanning app) and email the scan to [email protected] with a subject line of your team number and coach name, such as:

   TO:            [email protected]
   SUBJECT: BU10:01 Brenda Castillo

Pro Tip: Use the free iOS/Android app to create 2-page PDF files which can easily be shared/emailed.

c. Submit an online Match Report
You will be asked to provide the date, time, opponent, game score, your team's referees working the following match, and any feedback you have.

d. Hold on to your game cards. You may be asked to turn them in at the end of the season.

Scanning With Your Phone

Rather than scanning by taking photographs (and dealing with the orientation issues that go along with it) we recommend the free Scanbot app for iOS and Android. Simply place your game card on a contrasting background and the app finds the edges of the document. Click the + button to take another scan of the back side of the game card, optionally rename your file, save as a multi-page PDF document, and share to [email protected]

Be sure to adjust the scan quality setting to medium for smaller file sizes. Happy game card scanning!
